SEATTLE (KING/NBC) - A Seattle based company has developed a medical marijuana patch for man's best friend suffering from ailments.

Jim Alekson's Medical Marijuana Delivery Systems LLC has patented a patch called Tetracan that he says could be used on dogs, cats, even horses.

"Dogs suffer from the same maladies that humans do. It's a question of quality of life," said Alekson.

While the patch does conjure visions of pups frolicking in fields of poppies, Alekson said pets suffer from everything from arthritis to cancer. He also pointed to pharmaceutical painkillers that have proven harmful, sometimes fatal in animals.

"I'd much rather they were on something holistic as opposed to something chemical that I know is breaking down some of the organs in their body," Alekson said.

Developers said the patch would be available for use by humans as well.

They hoped to have it ready for market by the end of the year.

DETROIT - Jamar Pinkney, Sr. took the stand Wednesday to explain the murder of his 15-year-old son Jamar Jr. back in November.

Police say the teen was shot in broad daylight, while naked, in a field outside his mother's Highland Park home. Less than 24 hours earlier, Pinkney was told that his son sexually assaulted his three-year-old half-sister.

The girl was checked out at Children's Hospital in Detroit where an ER doctor testified that the child didn't show any signs of abuse. But the child's pediatrician did notice something. "I was still concerned because my daughter still had a memory of my son doing something to her," Pinkney testified.

Pinkney told the court his son had always been a good kid, so he didn't want to believe what he heard was true. However, hours after the hospital visit, Jamar Jr. called his father in the middle of the night and admitted to the inappropriate behavior.

Filled with anger, Jamar Sr. stormed over to his son's house, yelled at the teen, ordered him to strip off his clothes and then marched him outside. He told the court he felt completely out of control. "He walked to the field. He dropped down to his knees. I walked up behind him and shot him in the head," said Pinkney.

The testimony was too much for Jamar Jr.'s mother, who left the courtroom in tears.

An Ohio man who took his girlfriend at gunpoint to a medical clinic and tried to force her to have an abortion was sentenced to 13 years in prison on Thursday.

Dominic Holt-Reid pleaded guilty in April to attempted murder, abduction and illegally possessing a gun.

The Columbus resident reportedly became enraged in April 2010 after his then-girlfriend Yolanda Burgess refused to go through with an abortion.

After dropping their 5-year-old son off at school, he pulled a gun out and forced her to drive to the clinic.

The clinic staff called police after Burgess passed them a note saying she had been threatened and didn't want to go through with the procedure, the Columbus Dispatch reported.

He was arrested in the clinic parking lot with a .45 handgun.

The case sparked debate over what is considered murder or attempted murder concerning an unborn child.

Anti-abortion groups slammed the charge as showing "the schizophrenic nature" of abortion law in America while prosecutors argued the law had been changed to get around the ethical debate of when a life begins.

"The (state) murder statute was amended a few years back to prohibit 'unlawful termination of a pregnancy' in order to avoid the debate whether an unborn fetus is a 'person' under the law," the prosecutor wrote.

"I have tried homicides where the murder victim was pregnant and we were able to charge and convict for two counts, but this case is the first under these kinds of facts."

Holt-Reid's lawyers tried to frame the charges as a simple case of domestic violence, which would have netted him a shorter prison term, but judges rejected that argument.

Burgess has since delivered a healthy baby.

CHICAGO — An appeals court said a man can press a claim for emotional distress after learning a former lover had used his sperm to have a baby. But he can’t claim theft, the ruling said, because the sperm were hers to keep.

The ruling Wednesday by the Illinois Appellate Court sends Dr. Richard O. Phillips’ distress case back to trial court.

Phillips accuses Dr. Sharon Irons of a “calculated, profound personal betrayal” after their affair six years ago, saying she secretly kept semen after they had oral sex, then used it to get pregnant.

He said he didn’t find out about the child for nearly two years, when Irons filed a paternity lawsuit. DNA tests confirmed Phillips was the father, the court papers state.

Phillips was ordered to pay about $800 a month in child support, said Irons’ attorney, Enrico Mirabelli.

'Trapped in a nightmare' Phillips sued Irons, claiming he has had trouble sleeping and eating and has been haunted by “feelings of being trapped in a nightmare,” court papers state.

Irons responded that her alleged actions weren’t “truly extreme and outrageous” and that Phillips’ pain wasn’t bad enough to merit a lawsuit. The circuit court agreed and dismissed Phillips’ lawsuit in 2003.

But the higher court ruled that, if Phillips’ story is true, Irons “deceitfully engaged in sexual acts, which no reasonable person would expect could result in pregnancy, to use plaintiff’s sperm in an unorthodox, unanticipated manner yielding extreme consequences.”

The judges backed the lower court decision to dismiss the fraud and theft claims, agreeing with Irons that she didn’t steal the sperm.

“She asserts that when plaintiff 'delivered' his sperm, it was a gift — an absolute and irrevocable transfer of title to property from a donor to a donee,” the decision said. “There was no agreement that the original deposit would be returned upon request.”

Phillips is representing himself in the case. He could not be reached for comment Thursday.

“There’s a 5-year-old child here,” Mirabelli said. “Imagine how a child feels when your father says he feels emotionally damaged by your birth.” ... SMH!!!

Sad News: 2 Atlanta women fall from Hotel window play fighting

LaShawna Threatt, an aspiring model, celebrating her 30th birthday at a swank Midtown hotel, plunged to her death early Saturday morning at a party in her honor.

A friend, whom police say was "play fighting" with Threatt, is clinging to life at Grady Memorial Hospital after both of them crashed through a thick window and fell 10 stories out of the W Atlanta -- Midtown.

Atlanta Police Department spokesman Carlos Campos said witnesses at the 14th Street hotel told officers that Threatt and the other woman crashed through the window at around 3:15 a.m.

As the women fell, they hit another structure -- an area that had a slanted sunroof. Threatt remained there.

The other woman -- identified by friends as Ciara Williams -- rolled off the ledge and fell the remaining 20 feet unto the patio, police said. She is at Grady Memorial Hospital in critical condition.

"It appears that there was no malicious act, no foul play, they were just wrestling with each other, they hit the window, the window broke, and they fell out," said Atlanta Police Lt. Paul Guerrucci.

Threatt was a model, who also did party promotions for alcoholic beverage companies.

Williams is a dancer, said Passionate Chonvill, who owns a marketing company.

"She is a background dancer. Very big in urban dancing," Chonvill said. "She is in love with dancing."

Jomarys Castillo, 24, a friend of Threatt, said earlier Saturday, about 20 friends met at an Atlantic Station restaurant for a celebration dinner.

"It was her 30th birthday and it was wonderful and fabulous, just like she was," said Castillo, who knew Threatt though modeling circles.

Afterwards, most of the group went to the hotel, where Threatt had a rooftop party, said Castillo.

Castillo did not follow the group to the hotel.

"The last thing we talked about was her wanting to come to my baby's first birthday party on Aug. 11," said Castillo through tears. "Her idol was Marilyn Monroe, so it is kind of ironic that she would die so young."

Chonvill, who is another close friend of Threatt, said she missed the party as well, but confirmed from her friends who were there that the two were playing around.

"LaShawna is a mess, a silly goofball. She likes to playfight and tickle you. They had just gotten in the hotel and were having a good time," Chonvill said. "My friends who were there, said it was so random. They literally just fell out the window. They are two small girls and I am trying to figure out how the hell, two small girls could break a window like that."

In a statement issued Saturday morning hotel manager Michael O'Donohue, said further information about the accident and investigation would have to come from police.

"The incident at the W Atlanta early Saturday is very tragic and our thoughts and prayers are with the woman who was injured and the family and friends of the woman who died in the fall," O'Donohue said. "There is a police investigation underway and all information must come from the authorities."

Mike DeNiro, the owner of The DeNiro Group, said Threatt often did events for his production company.

"I have been knowing her for years. She was a mom and a good, free-spirited person," said DeNiro, 38. "She was one of the best persons you could ever know."

DeNiro said he was not at the birthday party, and like many of their other friends, have been slowly finding out about the accident, through the news, Twitter and Facebook.

"When I saw it, it crushed me," said DeNiro, adding that he bumped into Threatt and her daughter at the mall last week.

Police are investigating the fall as an accident, but Campos said that the homicide unit has been requested to assist with the death investigation.

Accra – A Ghanaian woman has married her dog because it has qualities she had seen only in her late father. Emily Mabou, 29, of Aburi, married the 18-month-old dog in a ceremony attended by a traditional priest and local, curious villagers, reports the Daily Dose.

Her younger brother David Mabou said her family boycotted the wedding which they felt was “a stupid step to combat her loneliness”.

But Ms Mabou said: “For so long, I’ve been praying for a life partner who will have all the qualities of my dad. My dad was kind, faithful, and loyal to my mum, and he never let her down.

“I’ve been in relationships with so many men…, and they are all the same… skirt-chasers and cheaters. My dog is kind, and loyal to me and he treats me with so much respect.”

In the ceremony, the priest warned villagers not to mock the wedding, but to “rejoice with her as she has found happiness at last”.

So this low-life, insecure hoodrat abusive BITCH allowed her son to get beat, torchured and murdered by her " boyfriend" and she denies that she knew, or saw any signs of abuse, SMH!!! Below is the story of Alicia and Johnny Campbell and the outrageous abuse of her --not his children lattie McGee and Cornelius Abraham.

The story of Lattie McGee and Cornelius Abraham is one of almost unbelievable abuse and cruelty, and yet it is also one of courage and hope.

On August 14, 1987, in a hot South Side Chicago apartment, police and paramedics found the tortured body of four-year-old Lattie McGee. Over the summer, when many inner-city children were outside enjoying splashing in the flow of spraying water hydrants, little Lattie was being systematically tortured by his mother and her boyfriend.

The then 28-year-old Alicia Abraham and her 40-year old boyfriend, Johnny Campbell, spent the summer beating the small boy with their fists, burning him with cigarettes and an iron, dunking his small legs into boiling water, depriving him of food and water, sticking him repeatedly with sewing needles and then wrapping a clothing line around his tiny raw ankles and hanging him upside down in the closet for the night. To muffle the innocent boy's cries, the couple would sometimes stuff a rag in his mouth.

Campbell did not like the 4-year-olds "effeminate" voice so to toughen the young boy he would starve him then beat him if he complained. On the hot August night, Campbell and Alicia stuffed a rag into Lettie's mouth, potato peels were placed on his eyes, his hands were bound, and he was hung by his feet in the closet. His complaints of having problems swallowing and that he was in pain from the broken collarbone and broken pelvis, were ignored.

Flesh Ripped Away

The next morning Alicia Abraham seemed more concerned with watching TV then getting Lattie down from the closet. It would not have mattered because he died sometime during the night. There was no more pleasure for her and her boyfriend to get from abusing this innocent child.

Pathologist said Lattie died of a severe blow to the head that slowly killed him, but they added, "His emaciated body, scarred from head to foot, was so infected from untreated wounds that he probably would have died a short time later." When the paramedics and police lifted the boy's shirt, they uncovered a chest of raw skin, his flesh ripped away from repeated abuse.

Not the Only Victim

There was another child in the home, six-year-old Cornelius Abraham, Lattie's brother. With courage, the young boy testified against the Alicia and Campbell. He recounted all the episodes of abuse that he and Lattie suffered.

For their crimes, Johnny Campbell and Alicia Abraham were both sentenced to life in prison.

Remarkably, two years earlier in 1985, Alicia Abraham was being counseled for neglecting her children by state investigators, who incredibly concluded the situation had improved.

Out of Despair, Hope

Cornelius, who showed much courage, was eventually sent to live with his biological father. Sadly, his father also neglected him, and at age 12, he was homeless and on his own for three months. After five more tumultuous years, Cornelius was placed with a pair of loving foster parents. In time, Cornelius grew close to them and today calls them "Mom and Dad."

After graduating from high school, he went on to college. In 1999, the YMCA Network for Counseling and Youth Development of Greater Chicagoland presented Cornelius with the first ever, Cornelius S. Abraham Award, designed to give hope to children who have suffered from abuse.

As summer ends, I cannot help to think of Lettie, who would be 20 years old now. Since I first read the Abraham brothers' story of the monstrous cruelty at the hands of their caregivers, I think of Lettie at summer's end. I will never understand what makes people, such as Alicia and Campbell, do the horrific cruel acts to small children, and in a way, I hope I never do understand it. Then I refocus and think of Cornelius -- so brave, so determined to beat the odds -- and I send a silent wish to him: that his life is now one of peace and happiness.

CHP Officer shot and killed her Husband and finally gets arrested after 2 years

So this chick finally gets arrested after 2 years, u shot your man in the head cause the 2 of you were arguing? C'mon son GTFOH. If you wanted teach him a lesson and a handgun had to be used, shoot him in the knee cap or something if thats how u roll, but when you shoot someone in the head and your a trained officer, your shooting to kill.... Los Angeles, CA—In was nearly two years ago when CHP officer Tomiekia Johnson, 31 did the unthinkable. She shot and killed her husband, Marcus Lavar Lemons.

The killing occurred in their car as the dead man fought with the off-duty CHP officer. Even if the dead suspect was unarmed the issue of disparity of force would allow this young woman to use a firearm to ward off an attack.

This was originally treated as a justifiable killing but apparently something led to this arrest nearly two full years later. My guess is the LSAD investigators obtained some a statement or statements that provided evidence that the killing was a crime.

Johnson has been a CHP officer for four years now and has been placed on administrative leave.

Right now, the Sheriff’s department is not talking.

Johnson is currently being held in the Woman’s Detention Center in Lynnwood on a $2 million bail requirement after her arrest at noon yesterday by the LSAD LASD-Surveillance Apprehension Team

LOS ANGELES – A CHP officer who allegedly fatally shot her husband nearly two years ago was arrested today and charged with murder, the District Attorney’s office announced.

Tomiekia Johnson, 31 (dob 4-19-79), was arrested about noon by Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department homicide detectives, said Deputy District Attorney Natalie Adomian with the Justice System Integrity Division. Johnson was arrested shortly after Adomian filed a felony complaint for arrest warrant – BA379826 -- charging Johnson with the murder of her husband, Marcus Lemons.

The complaint alleges Johnson personally and intentionally discharged a handgun. She is being held on $2 million bail. Arraignment information will be announced later.

I called my parents and thanked them for getting it on and going half on a baby Jan 10Th 1976, lol.... I wanna say that I love life and all it's ups and downs, nothing, I said nothing can take it's place. I love the family that he has blessed me with and all the friends that I have met along the way, the fact that I will meet more friends is a prelude to more happiness:)I want to say that everything that has ever affected me good, bad or ugly is and have been welcomed in my life from day 1. I learn from each lesson that has been taught and I continue to learn. One thing in this life I have learned and that life -Being open-minded is the key to more knowledge, If you want to know more about the world you have to be open-minded. Give everything a chance(well most things, lol). and most importantly, be childlike in your approach to life. Live with joy, laugh a lot, be light hearted and happy. A Uk woman by the name of Simone Back(32) committed suicide after posting her last " Status" on her wall and it read... " Took all my pills, be dead soon, bye bye everyone" some of her friends (she had 1,082)on her list called her a liar, and one even said " you choice" some actual friends showed some concern but it was to late, she passed away soon after. Her mom was contacted by authorities some hours later and the mom logged on to her daughters page and erased the eerie status left by her daughter the previous day, but not without a final message saying " My daughter Simone passed away today, so leave her alone now" DAMN!!
